On becoming a musician
I wrote my first song a few days ago. Unlike in the 20th century getting a song published was an incredible challenge. As Paul Simon wrote in :The Sounds of Silence: "People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence." Now anyone can publish instantly on YouTube and many other platforms. Having found a song that people liked, I would like to think I amy one day make a few dollars on it. If not then the better part is that I shared it with my wife and everyone else who cared to listen. To protect my interests. I copyrighted my song. Then joined ASCAP, a free to join organization that helps one get royalties. I also found a site called Bandcamp.com that let you publish there and possibly get paid. You can buy a flac version of my song for $1.50. So this has been lots of fun and excitement for a fairly small effort. I even created a website for my trade name BluesTraveller101. If you notice the spelling of Traveller, that is actually the name of Robert E. Lee's horse. I will keep you up on all the things I am doing to advance my "song-writing" . Stay Tuned.
